I grew up in Hartford attending St. Joseph 's Cathedral School and graduated from Hartford Public High. After retiring from working at Aetna for more than 20 years, I came to work for Parks and Recreation in the fall of 1998 to grow old gracefully.
I have been a resident of Rocky Hill since 1979, am married and have two children. I love my job at Parks and Recreation and am an avid walker.
I have been a resident of Rocky Hill since 1938. A few years later I married a Rocky Hill native, Louis Martino and have one son, two granddaughters and two great granddaughters. My work career had really began in 1952 when I worked at Newton Robertson Bakery in Hartford as Secretary, which also involved the counting of cash receipts from about 20 door to door delivery men. That position lasted ten years as the bakery closed down in 1962. It was a family bakery and the members of the family were aging and decided to retire. After a brief hiatus, as a matter of fact in October of 1963, my career with the Town of Rocky Hill started. I was employed as secretary for the Board of Selectmen and became all around office person for a period of about four years. Then the Charter was adopted by the Town of Rocky Hill and the government became Mayor – Council form government in 1967. My position then changed to Administrative Secretary for the Town Manager for twenty-three very interesting years. After retiring in 1990, a position became available in Parks and Recreation Department and I was invited to become a member of the staff which I accepted. My position in that department has changed from secretary/clerk to clerk who is in charge for balancing out the receipts for the registrations for all programs. It seems that handling money has been a big part of my working careers.
